A Mile High Adventure: 5 Days in Denver-Family Edition

Our recent trip to Denver was the perfect blend of urban exploration, outdoor adventure, and unique experiences. From downtown charm to mountain majesty, here’s a snapshot of how we spent our unforgettable five days in the Mile High City.

Day One: Arrival and Relaxation
We arrived late in the evening, checked into our cozy condo, and settled in, ready for the adventures ahead.

Day Two: Downtown Discoveries
Denver greeted us with sunny skies, ideal for exploring the city on foot. We started with a visit to the Denver Aquarium, where vibrant sea life captivated us. Next, we cooled off with a sweet treat at Little Man Ice Cream, an iconic spot known for its whimsical giant milk can design. Lunch at the lively Happy Camper hit the spot, and we ended the day immersed in the surreal world of Meow Wolf, an interactive art experience that was nothing short of mind-bending.

Day Three: Mountain Magic
We traded city streets for mountain trails, heading to Rocky Mountain National Park for a hike along the breathtaking Bear Lake trail. The fresh air and stunning views made it an experience to remember. Afterward, we explored the charming town of Estes Park and enjoyed a memorable lunch at Bird & Jim, where farm-to-table flavors shone. On the way back, a stop at the Colorado Cherry Company for their famous pies was a delicious ending to a perfect day.

Day Four: Festive Fun and Iconic Views
Brunch at Onefold was a cozy start to the day before we set off for Georgetown, where we boarded a festive holiday train ride through the snow-dusted mountains. On our way back, we visited the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, marveling at the natural acoustics and stunning rock formations. The evening wrapped up at My Brother’s Bar, Denver’s oldest bar, steeped in history and charm.

Day Five: Farewell to Denver
Before catching our flight home, we made a final stop at Red Silo Coffee Roaster for breakfast (our second visit—yes, it’s that good!). With hearts full and phones packed with photos, we said goodbye to Denver, grateful for the incredible memories we’d made.

Why Denver Should Be on Your Travel List
Denver’s unique mix of city life and outdoor adventure makes it a destination that truly has something for everyone. You can get to so many wonderful places right from Denver so it is a good landing zone to explore all that Colorado has to offer. We can’t wait to go back!
